The Vice President EMEA Mobility is a new senior position that is pivotal to LEWIS evolving and achieving its strategic business goals in the EMEA (European continent, UK, Middle East and Africa) region. To drive dynamic revenue growth, the Vice President EMEA Mobility leads on notable clients with EMEA-wide and EMEA-led international remits and budgets of $1 million plus. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, EMEA, the Vice President EMEA Mobility is part of the EMEA senior management team. The role is regional, so travel within the EMEA region will be required and it is expected that there will be occasional travel globally.

Purpose of the role

Client focussed, the purpose of this role is to win, lead, retain and grow major accounts in the sector on an EMEA level.

‘Mobility’ includes, but is not restricted to, areas such as automotive, automotive suppliers, e-mobility, consumer mobility, enterprise mobility, apps – location – data services (like infotainment apps, big data, app platforms, driver behaviour and location / navigation) and others such as autonomous, wearables, sensors / hardware, heads up displays, vehicle to infrastructure, infotainment, and dongles.  

LEWIS has a domain experience in B2B communications and has deep understanding of the latest technological developments (IoT, Industrie 4.0, AI, Big Data, Robotics). Over the past few years, LEWIS EMEA has successfully expanded the agency’s services into B2C, brand management and corporate communications. This experience already helps LEWIS to successfully reach out into the mobility space and will serve as a strong basis for future success.

LEWIS is already working for great brands in mobility (eg Allego, Athlon, AutoScout24, BlaBlaCar, Bridgestone, Car2Go, Continental, Goodyear, Shimano, TomTom, Uber). The Vice President EMEA Mobility is expected to accelerate growth by bringing a personal network of contacts and more experience and creativity to client pitches, proposals and work.

The Vice President EMEA Mobility will build and manage a team, with responsibility as follows:

  • EMEA ‘Mobility HUB’ team - in the same location as the Vice President EMEA Mobility. This team will address all regional and corporate comms needs plus local client requirements in the country where it is based. The Vice President EMEA Mobility has full management and P&L responsibility for this team
  • Local Mobility teams in other EMEA countries. These teams will work on purely local campaigns (projects and retainers) in the respective markets. The Vice President EMEA Mobility will work closely with the local market heads to develop, advise and train these teams. All commercial decisions around these teams will be made by the local market heads after consultation with the Vice President EMEA Mobility. They will be approved by the Executive Vice President, EMEA.

To help deliver our global diversification strategy, the role will work closely with the SVP EMEA Brand, the SVP EMEA Client Services and SVP EMEA Operations to turbo charge our automotive and mobility business in EMEA; and with counterparts in the US and APAC (when appointed) to bridge plans and activity across the regions, collaborating on international client opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Recommend and personally approach notable brands to be targeted and our strategy and campaign for engagement
  • Lead on notable credentials and pitches, including ownership of pitch prep and creative
  • Be involved as an advisor on client proposals and pitches with budgets under $1million
  • Ensure excellent creative results which deliver clients’ strategic objectives
  • Promote and drive our integrated proposition – deliver a cohesive service offering to clients
  • Develop a research & insights approach to guarantee a data-based approach in counselling clients and executing campaigns
  • Build strong relationships with clients and senior decision makers, leading as senior counsel for PR and integrated comms, and providing added-value strategic consultancy and initiatives for retention and organic growth
  • Support leadership of creative/content team, as needed
  • Champion and support awards submissions for client work
  • Help build and retain a high-caliber and motivated EMEA team – inspire and nurture a first class culture in which people can excel and grow; provide counsel for team members.

Other responsibilities

  • Lend advice/guidance on launching new practices/verticals next to automotive and mobility, taking the lead on specific launches as required
  • Lend advice/guidance on new office openings (if and when necessary)
  • Present the strategic face of the agency to external audiences through speaker opportunities, interviews with the media, social media presence, etc.
  • Run regional and office training sessions
  • Interview senior EMEA potential hires
  • Be an EMEA and international ambassador for LEWIS: viewed as a key and networked communications leader
  • Overall, be a collaborative, encouraging, supportive member of the EMEA and global senior management teams.

About you

Based on year-long experience in either public relations, marketing communications or digital marketing, you are a champion of integrated communications in the mobility industry. You enjoy breaking new ground to lead progress. Marrying cultural insights with strategic and creative vision, you have an impressive track record of inspiring and winning major automotive and mobility-related accounts as well as of retention and development of existing clients. Considered, assertive and influential, you are an outstanding leader with the skills and aptitude to motivate individuals and teams. You are able to forge strong relationships with an eclectic variety of senior internal and external stakeholders. You relish challenges and you thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast paced, international environment.

Additional requirements:

  • Deep understanding of brand communications and of integrated communications
  • High level of business acumen, including successful commercial management
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends and potential pitfalls
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of consistently making good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience and judgment
  • Deft negotiation skills
  • Up to date understanding of the wider communications and marketing industry
  • Excel at leading ambitious senior people; a collaborative team builder who is able to instil accountability and empower leaders to succeed
  • Strong written and verbal communication (English and German) and presentation skills
  • Ability to problem solve, project manage and multi-task. Will take charge of a situation and act, taking unpopular stands when necessary
  • Undergraduate (Bachelors) degree or higher
  • Integrity, humility, self-drive/initiative – and a sense of humor!

Remuneration and benefits

  • Basic salary dependent on experience
  • Performance related bonus
